Changes for the New Year

By Kevin Hale · Dec 15, 2005 · Add a Comment (8)

Hey everyone, we’ll be making a few changes starting with the release of next month’s issue. The first is that we’ll be releasing the January issue of Treehouse on January 9th instead of January 2nd. As much as we’d like to release the issue on the first Monday, we’ve decided to be realistic about our limitations considering it’s the holidays and that we’ll be moving out to California on the 3rd. The change of date is just to ensure that we deliver the best publication we can and to make sure our remaining time with our family and friends in Florida will also be of quality and good times.

The new year will also bring a change in prices to the individual issues. Packages and preorders will remain the same, but individual PDF issues will be sold at $5 an issue after January 9th. We feel the price increase for individual issue sales will help provide more value to our packages and preorders and hopefully help us carry additional costs that we see coming in the new year, not to mention stay competitive within the market. Until then, please feel free to take advantage of our current prices and let us know what you think about the changes.

Theoretically you should discount the bulk package not increase the single’s prices to make them seem discounted. But they are still cheap and if they cover your costs to keep you liquid then that’s all that matters.

For me, $3 per issue feels just right and is a fair per issue price in a package. If this remains the same, $5 for a single issue are ok to peek in or get just that issue — continous readers will switch to a package.

Ah… and keep up that good work! :)

I don’t have a problem with the price change. Thus far I have been purchasing the issues one at a time, since there was no cost advantage to purchasing a package. So now I’ll just buy a package, and my wallet will really not be affected.

Treehouse has ben a real eye opener for me and I have heard very positive feedback from the local web community in northern British Columbia. The single issue price increase is justified as other organization use the same publication model. Keep up the good work and I am really looking forward to the Jan issue.

It’ll be up in about an hour. Just double checking everything. Sorry for the delay.
